When school is out for the weekend the last thing children should worry about is what they are going to eat over the weekend. For some children the last meal they have before the weekend is their lunch at school. To combat this issue, the community began backpack programs at each county elementary school.
On Thursday, October 20, 2022, the Dublin Lions club presented a check for $10,000 ($2,000 for each school) to the backpack program. This money is distributed to ensure qualifying children from Pulaski, Critzer, Dublin, Riverlawn, and Snowville Elementary so that they have nutritious foods to take home every weekend.
The Dublin Lions Club has been serving the needs of people in Pulaski County and abroad since their inception in 1953. They provide firsthand service, eyeglass and hearing aid assistance and participate in fundraising. They are known for the iconic Lion Dog, their signature entre served annually at the NRV Fair and at their two large seasonal flea markets. More information about them can be found at dublinlions.org.
Presenting the check is Dublin Lions President Carolyn Hager and 1st VP Donna Settle.
